INTRODUCTION
Howard Gardner's theory of Multiple Intelligences introduces the various approaches that people use to express their different talents, abilities and preferences. "Howard Gardner's theory of Multiple Intelligences has created a new understanding of intelligence" (Mind Tools Ltd. 1996-2016). Gardner's model provides a more wholesome perspective or approach and a deeper understanding of the way that people deliver their thinking. Gardner's initial framework of Multiple Intelligences was divided into eight components: Logical, Visual, Musical, Intrapersonal, Kinesthetic, Interpersonal, Naturalistic and Linguistic. Since the development of his theory, Gardner has added a ninth intelligence: Existential. Each intelligence outlines the key features of a particular way of thinking and learning so that people can identify and justify their learning preferences. His theory is a way of thinking and understanding by paying attention to diversity, in particular the similarities and differences that influence the way we interpret the world. By exploring the Multiple Intelligences theory we can develop an understanding of inclusion, self-esteem building and how this can impact on the development of a culturally diverse and responsive environment.
